What is the Future Skills Organisation (FSO) Digital Capability Training Product Trial (TPT)?

Who is delivering the training?

TAFE NSW is delivering the training as part of the FSO Digital Capability Training Product Trial.

What is the purpose of the trial?

The trial is designed to test nationally scalable training products that build digital and AI capability across the VET workforce.

Who is the target audience?

The training is primarily intended for members of the VET workforce, including teachers, educational support staff, community educators and administrative staff involved in vocational education and training.

How many learners will participate?

Approximately 850 learners are expected to participate nationally.

What training will be delivered?

The trial will deliver 15 non-accredited Units of Competency and associated training products focused on digital capability, Cyber and AI-related skills.

How will the training be delivered?

Training will be delivered through a combination of:

• Self-paced learning
• Facilitated – Face- to- Face
• Facilitated – Virtual (Online)

Will the training be available online?

Yes. Training products are designed for online delivery and may include facilitated virtual sessions.

What is the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) model?

The TTT model prepares educators and facilitators to deliver the training products within their organisations.

How long does each non-accredited unit take to complete?

Each non-accredited unit has a volume of learning, that will require you to participate in both classroom and self-paced learning. To complete this non-accredited unit, you will be required to complete an assessment task.

How long are the facilitated non-accredited unit sessions?

Participants will need to commit to 30-50 hours of structured learning

Will learners receive a qualification or credential?

Learners may receive Certificate of Completion, badge or other recognition depending on the specific training product.

How do participants register?

Participants register their interest through an Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

Does submitting an EOI guarantee a place?

No. Submission of an EOI does not guarantee enrolment.

How are participants selected?

Participants will be assessed against agreed eligibility and pilot prioritisation criteria.

What prioritisation criteria will be used?

VET Workforce will be offered priority placement in desired classes and times, with all other staff addressed for availability upon contact

What happens if a non-accredited units reaches capacity?

Eligible participants may be placed on a waitlist.

Can participants change their selected non-accredited units after applying?

Yes, if non-accredited units are yet to commence.

When will applicants be advised of the outcome?

Applicants will be contacted once the selection process is complete.

Will participants be contacted by phone or email?

Participants may be contacted by email and/or phone/ sms to confirm availability and finalise enrolment.

Who is eligible to participate?

The primary target group is the VET workforce however the trial will be looking to offer contextualised training to Construction and Small Business.

Can participants from organisations outside TAFE NSW participate?

Yes. External stakeholder cohorts may be invited where additional participants are required to meet learner targets.

Is manager approval required to participate?

Participants should ensure they have the necessary approval from their organisation to undertake the training and have allocated sufficient time in their schedules.

Are there any prerequisites?

Some non-accredited units may have prerequisites or recommended prior knowledge.

Is there a cost to participate?

No. The training is funded as part of the FSO trial and is provided at no cost to eligible participants.

Are there any hidden costs?

If you participate in self-paced learning and decide later to undertake an assessment to obtain the full draft unit, you will be required to pay a nominal fee to have your assessment task assessed.

What technical requirements are needed?

Participants will need:

• Internet access
• A modern web browser
• Access to email

How do participants access the platform?

Enrolled participants will receive instructions via email.

What if participants have technical issues?

Technical support details will be provided during onboarding.

Is attendance mandatory for facilitated sessions?

Yes, where facilitated sessions form part of the non-accredited units requirements.

Can participants complete the training at their own pace?

Yes, applicants can opt into undertaking self-paced modules. These can be completed flexibly within the specified timeframe.

What happens if a participant withdraws?

Participants should notify the project team as soon as possible. Their place may be offered to someone on the waitlist.

What if a participant does not complete the training?

The learner will not receive the outcome for the non-accredited unit

Will completion be reported to employers or sponsoring organisations?

No. Results are covered under the TAFE NSW privacy policy.

What support is available?

Participants will have access to:

• Learning platform support
• Facilitators
• Project team communications

Will there be an orientation session?

Not all non-accredited units will include an orientation.

Who should participants contact for assistance?

Contact details will be provided in EOI and enrolment communications.

Will the training products be available for reuse by other organisations?

The training products are being developed for national use and may be made available to other organisations, subject to agreed intellectual property arrangements. This will be determined by the Future Skills Organisation (FSO).

Can organisations customise the materials?

Editable source files and guidance may be provided where permitted and will be at the discretion of the of FSO.

How will the success of the trial be measured?

Success will be measured through:

• Participation numbers
• Completion rates
• Learner feedback
• Evaluation outcomes

Will participants be asked to complete surveys?

Yes. Participants will be required to complete pre and post surveys to support the learning and provide delivery and resource insights. This is to improve the courses for future intakes and use. This feedback is imperative to the long-term success of the trial.

Will the training continue after the trial?

No training is scheduled past the pilot for non-accredited units. Post pilot, once units are accredited they will be added to the Business Services Training Package. RTOs can then elect to deliver these accredited units.

Will additional non-accredited units be developed?

The trial will inform future development of nationally scalable digital capability training products.

How are updates and decisions communicated?

Updates will be provided through official project/pilot communications via the FSO
